COMING UP

Exciting news: Mere Waters was selected as a Gold Prize Finalist for Portland Stage’s Clauder Competition!

ree

Known as “New England’s most prestigious playwriting award”, the Clauder has served as a launchpad for many successful playwrights from the Northeast, including Paula Vogel and Quiara Alegria Hudes. Mere Waters will receive an Equity workshop, with public readings on June 4th and 6th as part of PS’ Little Festival of The Unexpected. (Congrats to fellow Gold Prize winners Maggie Kearnan and Catherine Stewart, who will be workshopping their plays in May!)

After the workshop, I’ll be staying in Portland for a reading of Schnoz, a new ten-minute Jewish comedy, at Congregation Bet Ha’am’s A Staged Affair benefit.

ree

My award-winning short play Space Laser, In Space! had its first public reading at Bet Ha’am 2023; I look forward to experiencing my Jewish comedy being performed for a Jewish audience again!

THIS YEAR SO FAR

A flurry of production activity in Chicago:

In March, The Bed Trick had its world premiere production as part of Eclectic Full Contact Theatre’s Patchwork Playfest—and a short film is in the works from Chicago filmmaker Hansley Bordes!

ree

The Bed Trick was workshopped at Valdez Theatre Conference in 2023 where it provoked intense (and divided) dialogue; it’s exciting that this challenging piece is coming to life.

ree

The Female Gaze was performed in the Paragon Play Festival, Otherworld Theatre’s massive sci-fi/fantasy series alongside works by some of my favorite colleagues (Scott Sickles, Monica Cross, Cassie Seinuk and Erin Moughon, just to name a few!)

ree

Finally, I returned to the Artistic Home’s Cut To The Chase Festival with the world premiere production of my maternal horror play Postpartum.

ree

The Artistic Home’s selection of Tipping for Cut To The Chase several years ago was one of my first professional productions; it felt very full-circle to be back.

STAY TUNED

More to come this summer: a workshop production of a brand-spankin’-new full length play in my home town of New Hope, PA. I’ll share details soon!
